Lillian Hagman Lesser

Natchez — Services for Lillian Christine Hagman Lesser, 92, who died Thursday, June 4, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darian Duckworth and the Rev. Stacy Douglas officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Lesser was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada, the only daughter of Amy and John Hagman.

She grew up in Chicago, where she became a milliner and later retired to be a full-time homemaker.

As a widow, Mrs. Lesser moved to Natchez in 1981 to live with her only daughter and son-in-law. She attended Grace United Methodist Church and the Builder’s Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Lesser was preceded in death be her parents; her devoted husband of 40 years, Harold Lesser; one sister-in-law, Florence Dupper and husband, Elmer; one brother-in-law, Raymond Lesser and wife, Marjorie; and one niece, Ellen Salem.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Winkworth and husband Roy, of Natchez; one grandson, Paul Winkworth and wife Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Rachel Christine, Taylor and Dean, all of Smithville, N.J.; special friend, Marcela Winkworth of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; one cousin, Russell Gustafson of Wheeling, Ill.; her best friend for the past 80 years, Beverly Wheeler of Plainfield, Ind.; and a number of beloved friends and church members.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Baker, Jack Cox, Clark Feiser, Ralph LeMay, Al Strickland and Richard Whitney.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Grable and Ronnie Harper.
