VIDALIA — Two Jena men have been booked in connection with a fatal boating accident in early May.
Johnathon B. Edwards, 28, 152 Rockinstevens Drive, and Richard L. Finlay, 39, 164 Dead End Road, were booked into the Concordia Parish jail by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents on charges of operating a vessel while intoxicated, reckless operation of a watercraft and vehicular homicide.
LDWF officials confirmed the arrests were in connection with the May 8 boating accident that claimed the life of 15-year-old Cassie Finlay.
Investigators were not available to comment directly on the men’s alleged involvement in the incident.
The mishap happened at approximately 10:30 p.m. at Horseshoe Lake in Monterey when two boats running trotlines — one with six people in it and the other with five people onboard — apparently collided.
Along with the single fatality, seven others were injured in the accident.
The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office was the initial responding agency, but later turned the case over to wildlife and fisheries.
Edwards and Richard Finlay were both released on a $3,000 bond.
