WEST FELICIANA, La. — More than 350 bikers, including a team sponsored by Herring Gas, converged on West Feliciana Parish Memorial Day weekend with the farthest bikers coming from California.

Most bikers rode between 50-120 miles in two days.

Riders came from Florida, Tennessee, California, Texas and Brandon and Natchez, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Alexandria, La. Participants impressed organizers riding through heavy rains at times.

Frank Moak, who rides for Herring Gas, said his team is dedicated to racing. The Herring Gas team is the oldest continuous title sponsored team for 22 years. Moak said there are older teams from New Orleans, but their sponsors have changed from year to year. Herring Gas of Natchez, told Moak that they couldn’t afford the kind of advertising that the sponsorship gives them. In addition, Herring just likes what the team represents, Moak said.
