Worrying about signs a waste of time

As a business owner in Natchez, I find it mildly amusing that the planning commission is spending so much time and media exposure reining in outlaw signs in Natchez.
On the corner of Wilson Drive and Martin Luther King (a main thoroughfare) is a house sitting burned for maybe 10 years.
This is evidently OK, but Bad Boys Buggies’ sign on U.S. 61 is 22 square feet too big. City leaders should be more concerned with Fred’s and Bad Boys’ employee salaries, sales taxes, inventory taxes, real estate taxes and the city services these companies pay for on an annual basis.
There is enough pressure on business as it is just to stay open and viable.
The bottom line is all cities should have rules and guidelines, but they should be tempered reflecting the economy, both regionally and locally.
