Children stay busy during summer

The summer heat we knew was coming found the Miss-Lou last week, and we officially welcomed summer Sunday.
The weekend gave us a chance to honor our dads for all that they do, but the week was full of reasons to be happy as well.
Let’s review some of the good news last week brought to the Miss-Lou.
Michael Chapman and Ashton Williams celebrated a special day Thursday with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Chapman was honored for saving the life of 4-year-old Williams, who nearly drowned in a local pool. Chapman had previously received lifeguard training from the Red Cross and was honored at the group’s annual meeting.
Teenagers in town as a part of the Central Texas Conference and Youth Mission offered a helping hand to local residents. The group performed basic home construction and cleanup for needy locals. We are thankful for their help and hope they enjoyed their stay in Natchez.
The Arcade Theater in Ferriday is once again offering free summer movies for children. The movies are a great way to keep the children busy and learning, and we hope the attendance will be great.
Area children participated in the annual Boys & Girls Club Camp for the Performing Arts, and had exposure to a whole new world. This camp lets children try things they otherwise might never do.
Summer is sure to stay hot, but we know the heat won’t stop fun in the Miss-Lou.
