NATCHEZ — Services for Bernice Walker, 87, of Natchez, who died June 29, 2009, in Baker, La., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at New Beginning Baptist Church on St. Catherine Street in Natchez.

Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. Walker was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Natchez, the daughter of Mattie Smith and Lee Williams.

She was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Walker; one brother, Lee Williams; two sisters, Anniece Williams and Gertie Williams; two grandsons, Aubrey and Terry Buchanan; and a special niece, Cevelle Jackson.

Survivors include one daughter, Bertha Buchanan of Natchez; one son, Otis Watson of Natchez; two granddaughters, Bernice Watson Malone and husband Herman of Roxie and Yolanda Buchanan Lias and husband Stanley of Baton Rouge; four grandsons, Jeffery Watson, Reginald Buchanan, Terry Watson and Kevin Buchanan, all of Natchez; three nieces, Mattie Williams of Roxie, Elaine Williams of Baton Rouge and Anniece Williams of Maryland; three nephews, Donald Drew, Lee Williams and Johnnie Lee Williams III, all of Natchez; two special great nieces, Betty Jackson of New Orleans and Althea Hickman of Natchez; six great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
