FERRIDAY — Services for Katherine Constance “Kitty” Vogt DePrato, 87, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Baton Rouge, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Kerr Texada and the Rev. Louis Sklar officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Deprato was born March 21, 1922, in Newellton, La., the daughter of E.W. Vogt Sr. and Ethel R. Vogt. She was a retired teacher at Ferriday Lower Elementary and Huntington School and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ferriday.

She was a resident of Ferriday for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Ferriday High School and attended LSU in Baton Rouge and graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, La. She married J.L. DePrato Jr. in 1942 and taught for 45 years at Ferriday Lower Elementary and Huntington School. She was a member of the Ferriday Garden Club, St. Patrick’s Altar Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.L. DePrato; one brother, Frank Vogt and wife Floy; one granddaughter, Lisa Katherine DePrato; three nephews and one niece.

Survivors include four children, Jay DePrato and wife Barbara of Lake St. John, Mel Reid and husband Derrell of Vidalia, Dr. Debra DePrato of Baton Rouge and Jeff DePrato and wife Cori of Prarieville, La.; three brothers, Dr. Eugene Vogt and wife Marjorie of Ferriday, Howard Vogt and wife Betty Jane of Baton Rouge and Barry Vogt of Branson, Mo.; six grandchildren, Stefany DePrato Primeaux of Baton Rouge, Jennifer Reid of San Antonio, Texas, Kate Reid MacLean of Tulsa, Okla., and Haley, Ashlyn and Jake DePrato, all of Prarieville, La.; two great grandchildren, Cole and Jolie Primeaux of Baton Rouge; special friend and caregiver, Georgia Bell of Baton Rouge and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Vogt, Mike Vogt, Pat Vogt, Johnny Vogt, Joe Dalrymple and David Phelps.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Vogt, Phillip Vogt, E.W. Vogt III, Thomas Vogt, John Vogt, Thom Wilson, Bob Barry, Mickey Dupuy and Ray Routon.
