JACKSON (AP) — Toyota Motor Co.’s decision to indefinitely postpone the opening of its assembly plant in northeast Mississippi has resulted in suppliers halting their plans.

Suppliers represent nearly 2,000 jobs and a $400 million investment in local communities.

Chris Spence, president of Diversity-Vuteq, a Vuteq USA subsidiary, says his company has lost money because of the delay. Vuteq USA has plans to open two facilities, one in New Albany that will make moldings and one in the Blue Springs plant that will produce glass components.

Auto Parts Manufacturing Mississippi recently offered buyouts to the 16 employees at its Baldwyn operation.

Citing an uncertain economy and a downturn in auto sales, Toyota announced in December that it was postponing production in Blue Springs.
