Good news keeps on pouring down

The week started off with a summer blessing — rain!

After weeks of dry, hot weather, the rains were a great shift from the norm.

But as the skies dried up again, the good news still managed to survive the heat.

Let’s review the good news last week brought.

4 An Alcorn State University internship program has placed several students around the state. The students — including one at the Natchez-Adams Chamber of Commerce — are getting a chance to learn, and the businesses are enjoying the extra help, we are sure.

4 Cartrelle “Chill” Carter became a hero last week. Carter — who was working at Poboy’s Diner — just happened to see a young child take a dive into the deep end of the Days Inn swimming pool. He worried immediately and quickly took action, running across the street and then pulling the child out of the water. Those who witnessed the event said Carter saved the boy’s life. Thank goodness for Carter and his quick thinking.

4 Members of the Junior Auxiliary collected school supplies Saturday outside Walmart. The supplies went into a school bus, but they will not stay there long. Crayons, pencils, notebooks and other supplies will go to needy children in the area.

As we begin a new week — and pray for more rain — we know the good news will pour down one way or the other.
