NATCHEZ — Services for Alonzo “Pete” Green, 76, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Green was born March 15, 1933, in Adams County, the son of Willie Green Sr. and Ester M. Hawkins. He was a graduate of St. Francis High School. He was previously employed at Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital, where he was an orderly, and the Ritz Theatre. He was retired from the Morning Advocate.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Camille C. Green; five daughters, Diane and Harry, Carolyn and Tony, Cynthia and Sam, all of Natchez, Mary and Larry of Fort Worth, Texas, and Brenda of Vicksburg; eight sons, Alonzo Jr. and Renée of Cleveland, Ohio, Tyrone and Shonta, Leon and Michael, all of Natchez, Terry and Valorie of Sacto, Calif., Odell and Geraldine of Woodridge, Md., Steven and Amelda of Dump Fries, Va., and Gregory of Dallas; four sisters, Janie of Natchez, Gloria of Baton Rouge, Carrie and Louis of Calif., and Gloria of Chicago; two brothers, Richard and Knoxine of Natchez and George and Shirley of San Bernadino, Calif.; 47 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a lifetime friend, Douglas Cawford of New Orleans.
