Natchez — The St. Mary Basilica Catholic Youth Organization recently returned from a week of service in Louisville, Ky., with the Catholic Heart Work Camp.

In all, 15 youth and five adults from St. Mary attended the weeklong camp. The youth on the trip were separated into groups with other youth from all over the country. There were 35 groups of seven.

Groups worked for the metro parks, picking up trash along the Ohio River and around lake beds and painted outdoor public restrooms. They sorted clothes for needy children, cleaned overgrown brush, repainted houses and helped Habitat for Humanity comple the construction of two houses. Others played with foster children and took them rollerskating and swimming.
