FERRIDAY — Services for Jack Lawless, 87, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Magnolia House in Natchez, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Ferriday with the Rev. Roger Johnson and the Rev. Wayne Gray officiating.
Burial will follow at Jena Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Lawless was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Laurel, the son of William M. Lawless and Lottie Lawless. He was employed as a car salesman for Williams Chevrolet until his retirement. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force. He continued his service in the U.S. Air Force Reserves until his retirement in 1981.
Mr. Jack was a member of and served as deacon at First Baptist Church in Ferriday and was a charter member of the Kiwanas Club of Ferriday.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Edwards Lawless; his parents; two sisters, Maxine Davis and Dorothy Simmons; and one nephew, Bill Davis.
Survivors include three nieces, Susan Hughley of New Bean, N.C., Carol Swiss of Grand Bay, Ala., and Beth Sewell of Carrollton, Ga.; three nephews, Bod Edwards of Baton Rouge, Kenneth Young of Vidalia and Dr. Tom Young of Denham Springs, La.; and one sister-in-law, Hazel Edwards Young of Jonesville.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
