HAMPTON, Va. — Services for Jeannette Launa Rodgers, a longtime resident of Hampton, Va., formerly of Vidalia, who died Thursday, August 6, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hampton Christian Church.
Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton under the direction of R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton.
Ms. Rodgers was born in Asheville, N.C. and lived in Vidalia before moving to Hampton in 1989.
She was a member of the Hampton Christian Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of Circle 3. She had planned to help with Vacation Bible School this summer.
She was also active in her community doing volunteer work, including Meals on Wheels and visitations. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone with whom she came in contact.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur J. Velsor and one brother, David A. Velsor.
Survivors include her mother, Launa Velsor; one sister, Dorothy Bryant; two brothers, Don Velsor and adopted brother Roy Jones; three children, Stephen Rodgers of Vidalia and Clay Rodgers and Malinda Brown; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
