FAYETTE — Services for Seth Ballard Jr., 74, of Fayette, who died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, in Byram, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cannonsburg with the Rev. Sylvester Ballard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. today at Rollins Chapel.

Mr. Ballard was born Aug. 31, 1934 in Madison, the son of Seth Ballard Sr. and Lucille P. Ballard. He was a retired principal from Jefferson County Schools. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school treasurer, choir member, and a children’s day coordinator.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Augusta Dorsey Ballard and parents.

Survivors include three children, Mary Ballard of Jackson, serving in the United States Air Force, Selwyn K. Ballard and wife Renee, serving in the United States Navy and Valencia O. Brumfield and husband James, all of Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Jordan K and Samaria R., Trinity R. and Avari W. Ballard and Mackenzie E. Madysen E. and Joshua D. Brumfield, all of Memphis; two brothers, Samuel Ballard and wife Florice of Memphis and Sylvester Ballard and wife Evelyn of Pasadena, Texas; two sisters, Jannie B. Johnson and husband Lem of Madison and Mamie B. Crockett and husband Walter of Jackson; one aunt, Mamie P. Wiggins of Madison; two godsons, Michael Cain of Starkville and Justin Ballard of Memphis and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Larry McKnight, the Rev. Ronald Kaho, Clifton Kaho Sr. and Willie White.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Johnson, Justin Ballard, Juan S. Gray, Charles Kaho, Monroe Ballard, Selwyn Ballard, Sam B. Cobbins and Donald Kaho.
