Sgt. 1st Class Severin Summers III

BATON ROUGE — Services for Sgt. 1st Class Severin “Sev” West Summers III, 43, of Bentonia, formerly of Lafayette, La., who died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, in Qole Gerdsar, Afghanistan fighting for freedom, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Pearson officiating.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Sgt. Summers was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Severin and Mary Summers; maternal grandfather, Albin Major; and two uncles, Van Major and Joe Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Allison Summers; his parents, West and Charlene Summers; three daughters, Jessica, Shelby and Sara; maternal grandmother, Marguerite S. LeBlanc; one sister, Andree Freeman of Sanford, N.C.; three brothers, Capt. Sean Summers, Sgt. Pierre Summers, both of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Lt. William Summers of Fort Polk, La.; and 13 nieces and nephews.
