Natchez — Michael Kerekes has joined the staff of The Natchez Democrat as a sports reporter.

Kerekes is a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in history.

He comes to Natchez after a three-year internship with the Tuscaloosa News in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

He has also worked for Scout.com, a college recruiting Web site and written for Dateline Alabama, an online publication within the university’s journalism department.

A native of Tuscaloosa, Kerekes is a graduate of Paul W. Bryant High School.
