Williams gets several academic awards

Natchez — E’Keria Williams was the recipient of several awards for academic achievements during the 2008-2009 school year.

Williams was a sixth-grade student at Morgantown Elementary where she was honored for her 98.1 overall grade point average and received outstanding academic achievement in all subject areas.

She was a superintendent’s scholar, president of the National Junior Beta Club and a S.O.A.R. Scholar.

She was awarded a certificate of academic excellence and attended the 2009 National Junior Leaders Conference. Williams received the President of the United States Award for academic achievement which included a personal letter from President Obama.

Williams is now a seventh-grade student at Robert Lewis Middle School and plans to attend Alcorn State University and pursue a career in medicine.

She is the 11-year-old daughter of Ernest and Tammy Williams and the granddaugther of Ernest and Dinah Williams Sr. and the late Tom Bibbins, the late Marion Fleming and Richard and Estella Knight.

She attends Beulah Missionary Baptist Church where she is a member of the youth choir, usher board and active in Sunday school.

She is also a member of the Little Pup cheerleading squad, a majoretee, a member of the higher praise dance group, a Delta Sigma Theta Delta Doll and a member of the Alpha & Omege Stomp Group.
