Stanton Hall donation is generous gift

I must say I was quite pleased to recently learn that several Stanton family pieces have returned home. It is such a tremendous and generous gift not only to all those who appreciate antebellum life and its legacies, but also to the original owners, Frederick and Hulda Stanton.

The return of those pieces is especially moving to me, for I miss the days of walking the halls and answering questions of enthusiastic visitors. Stanton Hall is a part of me, and I treasure the time I spent within its walls. Most remembered are the moments spent in quiet solitude, surveying the silent rooms and being taken in by their tranquil elegance.

I would like to thank the Pilgrimage Garden Club and all persons responsible for maintaining such a treasure as Stanton Hall.

Their work to ensure its originality and history is greatly appreciated.

At times it must seem an arduous task, but the lasting gifts of their labors will be enjoyed by visitors wishing to take a glance through a window at a world now gone.
