VIDALIA — Services for Eloise Woods Stewart, 77, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Columns Rehab and Retirement Center in Jonesville, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Gray officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Ms. Stewart was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Vidalia, the daughter of James Smith and Louise Woods Smith. She was a member of the Rosewood No. 65 Order of Eastern Star of Vidalia. She also served as musician for a number of churches and taught piano lessons for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her adopted parents, the Rev. David and Amelia Woods; and six siblings, John Strange Jr., Fred Woods, James Woods, Mary L. Spencer, Ethel L. Smith and Elnora Walls.
Survivors include one daughter, Dr. Pinkey Stewart of Forest Park, Ill.; one son, the Rev. David A. Woods; three grandchildren, Shana A. Stewart of Forest Park, Dexter L. Stewart and LaToya R. Stewart, both of Vidalia; four great-grandchildren, Dashawn, Ty, Jasmine and Trey; and a devoted cousin, Louise Yearby of Vidalia.
