FERRIDAY — Services for Alice Cothren, 84, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Chase Weeks and the Rev. Todd Garlington officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cothren was born May 26, 1925, in Mathiston, the daughter of Thomas Joseph Dobbs and Ruthie Blasingame Dobbs.
Mrs. Cothren was a homemaker and a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alcus “Scout” Cothren; her parents; one daughter, Cheri Cothren Cordray; one grandson, Jared Housley; two sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Cothren Doss of Tallulah, La., and Margaret Cothren Housley of Jonesville; seven grandchildren, Robbie Milbert, Paula Todd, Darren Lewis, Shannon Garlington, Kevin Blasingame, Rebecca Childs and Amy Dodd; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Blasingame, Darren Lewis, Dick Todd, Todd Garlington, Andrew Childs and Jimmy Dodd.
