Natchezian named Miss Mississippi Cover Girl 2009

Natchez — LaPetra Wilson was crown National American Miss Mississippi Cover Girl 2009 on June 14 at the pageant in Meridian.
Wilson, the daughter of Bernadette P. Wilson, is a junior at Natchez High School, a four-year cheerleader and a member of the track team.
She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Natchez Chapter Delta Gems, a member of Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where she is president of the youth department, a choir and praise team member, secretary for Sunday school.
In 2008, she was crowned the Christian Debuatantee queen.
At the Cover Girl pageant, Wilson was also awarded first runner-up in most recommendations, fourth runner up in photogenic and portfolio award, best thank you note, ticket sales, spirit award and outstanding participation award.
She will represent Mississippi at the National American Miss Pageant in California on Nov. 21-29.
At the national level she will compete in National American Miss, National American Photogenic, National Cover Girl, National spirit award as well as other categories.
She will return to the Mississippi National American Miss competition to crown the 2010-2011 queen.
