Harold Thorpe

BROOKHAVEN — Services for Harold Lloyd Thorpe, 87, of Brookhaven, who died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Silver Cross Nursing Home, will be at 10 a.m. today at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home.
Mr. Thorpe was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Natchez, the son of George C. Thorpe Sr., and Pearl Florence Kile Thorpe. He retired from Acme Refrigeration Wholesale in Baton Rouge after 38 years. He was also a farmer and cattleman.
Mr. Thorpe was a member of Mount Olive Church of Christ and served as the church secretary. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as Quartermaster.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Raymond Thorpe, George Thorpe Jr., Loyd Thorpe and Gerald Thorpe; and
three sisters, Fay Aldridge, Margaret Canemi and Georgia Lee Jordan.
Survivors include three brothers, John W. Thorpe and James E. Thorpe and wife, Carolyn, all of Natchez and Darol Thorpe of Union Church.
