CLAYTON, La. — Services for Nathaniel “Sonny” Conner, 62, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy White officiating.
Burial will follow at Zion Hill Church Cemetery in Ferriday under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Conner was born Jan. 10, 1947, in Ferriday, the son of Joe Williams and Willie B. Conner Burkes. He was employed as a construction worker.
Mr. Conner was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Ferriday No. 101 Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gregory Wayne Conner; and two brothers, Oliver and Willie Conner.
Survivors include eight children, Kenneth Prosser and wife, Keisha, Treniece Conner and Gwendolyn Ray, all of Ferriday, Tavasiyun McCray of Houston, Texas, Keith Brown of Georgia, Keisha Conner of Baton Rouge, Alma Braggs of New Orleans and Pam Thompson of Clayton; one sister, Ethel B. Conner of Ferriday, one aunt, Stella Robinson of Oakland, Calif.; one uncle, Nathaniel Conner and wife, Pinkey, of Monroe, La.; and a number of grandchildren.
