SHREVEPORT, La — Funeral services for Charles “Charlie” Emmett Price, Jr., 84, who died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, will be at 2 p.m., Monday, at Broadmoor Baptist Church Memorial Chapel in Shreveport, La., with Dr. Tom Harrison and Dr. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in Forest Park West Cemetery at West 70th Street and Meriwether Road.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. on Monday at the church, 4110 Youree Drive.

Charlie was born on Nov. 27, 1924, in Smackover, Ark., the son of the late Charles and Wilhelmina Price of Heidelberg.  He was a member and deacon of Broadmoor Baptist Church and was an active and dedicated servant.

Charlie was a kind and wonderful husband and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He left an abundance of love and memories to his family and friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Charlie was an avid Christian and loyal servant of the Lord having donated precious years of mission service across the United States for RF Gates Association, a year to the Louisiana Baptist Association managing the Welcome House and then drilling water wells in Zimbabwe, Africa, as well as countless other mission endeavors.

Charlie served his country as an aviation cadet in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1945.  He was a registered petroleum engineer, having graduated from Auburn University with a degree in petroleum engineering.  Charlie’s career began with Murphy Oil Company in El Dorado, Ark., and he retired from Crystal Oil Company of Shreveport, La., and Callon Petroleum Company of Natchez.  He then was a partner and consultant with Engineering Associates/Price-Sayers, Inc. for many years.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Gould Price; and one son, Kelly W. Price.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Ouida Driggers Price; two daughters, Kathy Kassouf and husband, Ray of Houston, Texas, and Connie Sayers and husband, Carl of Vidalia; one brother, Ventress Price of Rome, Ga.; one sister, Mozelle Mooty of Wichita Falls, Texas; six grandchildren, Shanna Sullivan, Casey Sayers, Kellie Ann, Candy, Charlie and Christian Price; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Broadmoor Baptist Church deacons.  Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School brothers of Broadmoor Baptist Church.

Charlie and his wife, Ouida, lived in Natchez for approximately 10 years during the years he worked at Callon Petroleum Company.

He was an active member, teacher, and deacon at Parkway Baptist Church during those years.
