NATCHEZ — Services for Marguerite Thompson, 53, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Thompson was born Dec. 17, 1955, the daughter of Martin Henderson III and Dorothy Lee Thompson. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church where she served until she became ill.
She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Kerri Laverne Byrd Thompson.
Survivors include her beloved mother and caregiver, Dorothy Lee and Isaac Johnson; one son, Kelvin Travern Thompson and Kemeshala Allen; her father, Martin III and Ella Henderson; five sisters, Georgia M. Thomas of Los Angeles, Pamela V. Brooks and husband, George Jr., Jean Smith and husband, Harry, Margie Huff and husband, James, all of Natchez, and Danielle Latese Hawkins and husband, Anthony, of Coldwater; three brothers, Ricky Thomas of Long Beach, Calif., George Ivory and Larry Stanton and Alma Rose Clark, all of Natchez; five grandchildren, Shykila Kerriona Thompson and Kelman Allen, both of Natchez, Ariel Rashan King, Thalia King and Krystal King, all of St. Paul, Minn.; 10 aunts, Vera Lee Saul, Annie Mae Thompson, Virginia Rounds, Josephine Blackwell and Eva Smith, all of Natchez, Joan M. Evans and husband, Willie, of Clayton, La., Elmira Whitley and husband, Charlie, of Lake Providence, La., Bessie Cain and husband, Joseph, of Junction City, Kan., Betty Byrd of Long Beach and Marguerite Ringolo of Las Vegas; one uncle, James Green and wife, Alberta, of Sibley; the Martin family, Herman, Ernest, Henry, Bob, Lionel and Annie; the Johnson family which includes six stepsisters and three stepbrothers; a number of cousins; one special cousin, Mary Saul Green and Ned King, all of Natchez, and Willie Lee Thompson and wife, Melinda, of Vidalia; extended friends and family, Chuck Savell and wife, Annette, of Purvis and Gonzales, La., Cynthia King of St. Paul, Minn., Fredia Allen and husband Greg, Isabel Lunpkin, Jackie Fletcher, all of Natchez, Aurthurine Watson and husband, Charles, of Jonesville, La.; the Sibley and Providence communities; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Henry Brooks, Marcellus Brooks, Michael Jones Sr., Dewayne Thompson, Charles Woods Sr., and Nathaniel Perry.
