Obama deserves respect; so does Bush

In response to Heida E. Hick’s letter to the editor on Sept. 21, I am also truly intrigued by your comments regarding our current President, Mr. Obama. I agree with your line of reasoning that the President deserves the respect of all. So then I ask you this question Ms. Hicks, does that respect apply to all presidents or just to Mr. Obama?

The reason I ask that question is that I assume, since you classify yourself as an unabashed liberal, you surely voted for Mr. Obama and you certainly watched the inauguration ceremonies in January.

However, it appears that you missed the part where our former President George W. Bush was introduced at which time the mainly African American crowd greeted him with loud boos. I was personally offended by that reaction which was totally wrong and uncalled for. Where was the respect there Ms. Hicks?

So I guess I am wondering where your letter of disapproval to The Democrat was when that happened.

Therefore Ms. Hicks, since I am an unabashed conservative who disagrees with virtually everything this President has done in this eight months in office, I would agree with your statement that he does deserve the respect even when we disagree.

However, I believe it is a two-way street which is something liberal Democrats feel does not apply to them.
