THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Five people have been ticketed in the two years since Lafourche Parish banned people from wearing saggy pants that publicly show the wearer’s undergarments.
The local law was written by Councilman Lindel Toups because he says he had trouble enforcing the way his own grandson dressed. The ban went into effect July 20, 2007.
Saggy pants scofflaws face a $50 fine for a first offense and $100 for the second. The third offense carries a $100 fine and 16 hours of community service.
The five tickets were issued this summer, between June 10 and July 28.
