FERRIDAY — Services for Opal Gravelle McGaha, 88, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Crown Health and Rehab of Natchez, will be at 10 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Preston Holder officiating.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Jena, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mrs. McGaha was born April 20, 1921, in Jena, the daughter of Henry David Poole and Nola Neal Poole. She was a retired beautician with more than 40 years of service. She was also a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton McGaha; one son, Jerry Gravelle; one grandson, Christopher Shawn Edwards; her parents; two brothers, Henry Alton Poole and Johnny David Poole; and one sister, Aldis Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Gravelle Edwards and Shirley Cliburn, both of Ferriday; two grandsons, Stephen Paul Edwards and wife, Michelle, and Collin Avery Edwards, all of Ferriday; five great-grandchildren, Chance Edwards, Jarred Edwards, Tori Edwards, Brye Edwards and Stephen Crain; one brother, Tommy Poole and wife, Doris, of Liberty; one sister, Elois Ledingham of Birmingham, Ala.; and one sister-in-law, Frances Poole of Ferriday.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Paul Edwards, Collin Edwards, Chance Edwards, Jarred Edwards, Tim Poole, Jeffery Poole and Ronnie Poole.
