NATCHEZ — A man wanted for murder in New Orleans was arrested Wednesday morning in Natchez.
The Natchez Police, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal Service — Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Brian Fields, 21, at 318 Arlington Ave., at approximately 11 a.m.
After making entry into the residence, Fields was in plain view and police were able to make the arrest without major incident.
The suspect has been staying in Natchez in recent months, and after he was seen recently, police were able to track him to that address, Natchez Police Sgt. Craig Godbold said.
“We got another murderer off the streets,” Godbold said.
Fields was wanted in connection with the February death of Maher Ali Khalil, 29, and was considered armed and dangerous.
Officers found Khalil lying in the street with a single gunshot wound to the head.
He later died in a New Orleans hospital.
