NATCHEZ — Services for David Hawkins Sr., 80, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Promise Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark No. 2 Baptist Church in Kingston with the Rev. Kenneth Stanton officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Hawkins was born April 3, 1930, in Woodville, the son of Walter Monroe and Odeal Hawkins. He was retired.
Mr. Hawkins served as a deacon at St. Mark No. 2 Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge LR Paige No. 20.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alena Hawkins; one son, Willie L. Hawkins; and his parents.
Survivors include seven children, Betty Cameron, David Hawkins Jr. and wife, Mary, Virginia Hawkins and husband, Darnell, Nathaniel Myles and wife, Brenda, LaVonne Belton and husband, Timothy, Karen Myles and husband, Phiddle, and Richard E. Davis and wife, Keiko; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ted Monroe and Cecil Hawkins; and seven sisters, Deloris Monroe, Geraldine Gremillion and husband, Thomas, Sofronia Kelly and husband, Robert, Carrie Hawkins Bass, Virginia Johnson, Luella Hawkins and Margaret Hawkins.
Pallbearers will be Mason brothers.
