VIDALIA — Balloon festivalgoers will have a chance to let their money float away even if the balloons don’t fly this weekend.
The ninth annual Vidalia Landing Flea market will be on the Vidalia riverfront during the festival, and event producer Eric Glatzer said it will likely be one of the largest ever.
“Right now, we have 101 booths, and we always pick up an extra few, so we will probably push 110 booths at the market,” he said.

The flea market will open at 6 p.m. Friday and last through the balloon glow. Saturday and Sunday morning it will open at 9 a.m. and last until dusk.
This year, organizers made an effort to encourage a variety of vendors, Glatzer said.
“I had people tell me what they wanted to do, and I would say, ‘We already have three of those, do you have something else?’” he said. “More often than not they had something else they could pull out.”
Booths will include traditional flea market items, and Glatzer said a number of booths will have items specifically for children.
This year’s market will also include 12 food vendors.
“We have encouraged them not to sell the same kinds of things,” Glatzer said. “We have one guy who does chicken fajitas, and another guy who only does hot dogs, so he has all sorts of specialty items.”
Vendors can still buy booths until 10:30 Saturday morning, Glatzer said.
Booth costs are $50 plus $15 for electricity.
Vendors will also be allowed to camp at their booth site, Glatzer said.
“That way they are relieved of the stress of having to pack up at night,” he said.
