VIDALIA — Two more arrests have been made in connection with a Thursday morning shooting on Peach Street.
Keywon De’Shay Jackson, 18, 203 Pine St., was arrested on a bench warrant for attempted second-degree murder in connection with the incident, which happened at approximately 3:45 a.m.
Previously arrested were Quancy Hawkins, 20, 103 Gillespie St., and Michael Riley, 24, 602 Maple St. Both were charged with attempted second-degree murder.
The three were allegedly in a vehicle from which someone opened fire with a 9mm handgun on another vehicle near the intersection of Peach Street and the Apple Street bridge.
The victim, a juvenile who was shot once in the leg by a bullet that entered through his vehicle’s door, had reportedly had an argument about a female with one of the suspects, Police Chief Ronnie G. “Tapper” Hendricks said.
Police later recovered the weapon used in the shooting near the Apple Street bridge.
All three have been charged with attempted second-degree murder, but if one of the suspects confesses to being the shooter it is possible the others will be charged as accessories to the crime, Hendricks said.
In a separate incident, the female the suspects were arguing about filed a report against Quancy Hawkins’ brother, Quincy Jarmel Hawkins, 21, 103 Gillespie St., Vidalia.
In her complaint, the victim stated that Quincy Hawkins pointed a weapon in her face and threatened her, Hendricks said.
The threats were related to the shooting and subsequent arrests, Hendricks said.
Quincy Hawkins was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
All of the suspects were detained without bond Friday.
