NATCHEZ — Services for George Thompson Jr., 71, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Thompson was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Adams County, the son of George Thompson Sr. and Laura King Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mattie Woods and Margariete Wilson; and two brothers, Lity Gean and Nolan Thompson.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Callie Glover Thompson; two children, George Thompson and wife, Linda, and Violet Thompson, all of Natchez; one granddaughter, Kelsey Thompson of Natchez; seven sisters, Alice Davis and Birdie Pierce, both of North Carolina, Dora Brown and husband, Floyd, of Kenner, La., Hattie Bethly, Lisa Green, Tina Green and Tiny Green, all of Clayton; eight brothers, Carl Ray Green and wife, Lillie, and James Green, all of Clayton, William Thompson, Jake Thompson and wife, Janice, Bennie Thompson and wife, Laura Ann, all of Portland, Ore., Nathaniel Thompson and wife, Gerrie, and Jessie Wayne Thompson, all of Destrehan, La., and Abdul Rahmann Mahummid of Hartford, Conn.; two aunts, Julia McFarland and Mary Lou Dixon and husband, Robert, all of Natchez; two goddaughters, Archtrena Hargrave and JaKayla Lewis, both of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
