NATCHEZ — Services for Richard Wayne Youree, 75, of Natchez, who died Oct. 8, 2009, in Natchez, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in El Dorado, Ark., with the Rev. Bob Allen officiating.
Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado.
Mr. Youree was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Arkansas City, Ark., the son of Donovan Allen and Mary Turnage Youree. He was a 1951 graduate of El Dorado High School and received a bachelor of music degree from Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, Ark., in 1955. He was also a member Alpha Chi, National Scholastic Society.
Mr. Youree was enrolled in graduate studies at North Texas University and was a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, national scholastic music society. He was a member of Sons of the American Revolution and was also a member of the American Guild of Organists, Organ Historical Society and American Theatre Organ Society. He taught at Kuehnle School of Music from 1956 to 1970 and taught piano and organ at his private studio in Natchez from 1970 to 1988. He was also a member of the Historic Natchez Foundation and the Natchez Historical Society. Mr. Youree was a retired organist/director of choirs at Trinity Episcopal Church from 1956 to 1976 and served as a communicant at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, William and Alice Miner Turnage and John Alexander and Molly Turley Youree; his stepmother, Madge Moore Youree; two brothers, Gary Allen Youree and John Turnage Youree; and his family, Carmen Lee, Fern Smith Youree, Amy and Elizabeth.
Survivors include two nephews and their family, Gary D. Youree and wife, Cindy Strozier Youree and their children, Donovan, Miner and Allison, all of Rogers, Ark., Luke Youree of Stoney Brook, N.Y.; three nieces and their family, Renee Youree Kennison and husband, Richard, and their children, Book, Zoe, Tia and Nadia, all of St. Charles, Mo., Rachel Youree Mossey and husband, Shelly, and son, Jackson Mossey Youree, all of New York, N.Y., and Daphne Youree Djordjevic and husband, Andrija, and their sons, Aleksandar Emmet Djordjevic and wife, Sascha, and Nikola Franklin Djordjevic, all of New York; extended family, Nora L. Berret, Tommy and Linda Biglane, Kenny, Patty and Logan Brown, Johnny, Ann and Bayard Watts, all of Natchez; special friends, Barbara H. Youree of Overland Park, Kan., Anna Christianson of New York and Margo Goodman of Stoney Book, N.Y.; a number of cousins including Bill and Myra Turnage, Marilyn Turnage Bryan, all of El Dorado and Barbara Turnage Smith of Virginia Beach, Va.
