Natchez — The Natchez Historical Society will have its next meeting at 6:30 Tuesday at 108 S. Commerce St., with a presentation on St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge. Guest speakers Bob Strader and Rita and Bill Beane will share information and images of the refuge.
With over 24,000 acres in southwest Mississippi about seven miles south of Natchez, the refuge provides winter habitats and nesting areas for waterfowl in the Lower Mississippi River Valley.
Strader, refuge manager, will discuss the historical perspective of the refuge as well as the mission and highlights of the refuge including management for migratory birds.
The Beanes will share photography of the refuge in a PowerPoint presentation. The pictures are mostly animals and scenery from the refuge.
