ROSETTA — Graveside services for Albert Sidney Johnson, 87, of Rosetta, who died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Rosetta Cemetery with the Rev. Bernard Waites officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Dr. Johnson was born June 10, 1922, in Wilkinson County, the son of William Fayette Johnson and Bethel Cobb Johnson. He was a dentist. Dr. Johnson received his doctor of dental surgery degree at Emory University in Atlanta. He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Dr. Johnson was a member of Perrytown Church of Christ in Crosby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Thelma Sturdivant Johnson; second wife, Donna Sorrels Johnson; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include six children, James Johnson and wife, Ellen, Suzanne Goodman and husband, Scott, of Natchez, Deidre Nettles, Thomas Johnson and wife, Mary, all of Crosby, Mary Ann Peoples and husband, Joe, Suzanne Goodman and husband, Scott, all of Natchez, and Lyle Johnson and wife, Becky, of Gloster; nine grandchildren, Crystal Jones, Brandon Peoples, Jacob Nettles, Andrew Nettles, William Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Thomas Johnson and Russell Goodman; one great-grandchild, Joshua Johnson; one sister, Bernice Heuser of Virginia Beach, Va.; a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members; and three special caregivers, Linda Haney, Steve Cater and Pricilla Longmire.
