NATCHEZ — Services for Burke Campbell Murphy Sr., 85, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Bill Murphy officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both at the funeral home.
Mr. Murphy was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Indianola, the son of Meredith Quincy and Mary Katie Wrenn Murphy. He retired from the agronomy department at Mississippi State University in 1976. He also owned and operated Farm and Livestock Supply, Inc., in Canton and Carthage until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lou Case Murphy; two sons, Bucky Murphy and wife, Alice, of Canton and Bill Murphy and wife, Debbie, of Starkville; one daughter, Dee Bullen and husband, Leon, of Fayette; 12 grandchildren, Camp Murphy and wife, Sydney, of Flowood, Bo Murphy and wife, Emily, of Brandon, Dees Murphy, Philip Murphy and wife, Corrie, Emily Redwood and husband, Jack, Mary Beth Murphy, all of Starkville, Andrew Murphy and wife, Jennifer, of Southaven, Meredith Horn and husband, Vic, of Alpine, Texas, Mary Elizabeth Naugle and husband, Nate, of Powell, Tenn., Terry Bullen and wife, Angie, of Jessup, Md., Hannah Williams and husband, Michael, of Tupelo and Joseph Bullen and wife, Kayla, of Natchez; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Camp Williams, Bo Murphy, Andrew Murphy, Philip Murphy, Joseph Bullen and Michael Williams.
