Ione Gasquet

NATCHEZ — Services for Ione Rainwater Gasquet, 89, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Basilica in Natchez with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery in New Orleans.
Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Gasquet was born Nov. 22, 1920, in Schlater, the daughter of Bige Rainwater and Ella Lowery Rainwater. She was a member of St. Mary Basilica, Natchez Board of Realtors and the Pilgrimage Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis James Gasquet Sr.; one son, Francis James “Jimmy” Gasquet Jr.; one sister, Norma Rainwater Magill and husband, Frank; and one son-in-law, Marcel P. Bruchez Sr.
Survivors include three daughters, Marie Ione Gasquet of Natchez, Dorothy Gasquet Bruchez of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Norma Gasquet-Williams and husband, William, of Shrewsburg, Pa.; special family friend, Amie Wilson of Natchez; one daughter-in-law, Mattie Ruth McGehee and husband, Ross Dunbar McGehee, of Natchez; six grandchildren, Marcel Pierre Bruchez Jr., and wife, Julie Heinrich, of Pittsburgh, Reuben James Bruchez and wife, Lauren Ouellette Bruchez, of Cohoes, N.Y., Anna Marie Bruchez of Boston, Mass., Sophie Estelle Gasquet, Francis James “Daniel” Gasquet, both of Natchez, and Jeffrey Paul Bruchez of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and one great-grandchild, Matilda Brynn Bruchez of Pittsburgh.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Lee England and his staff and Dr. Vikramaditya Dulam and his staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society Building Fund, P.O. Box 549, Natchez, MS 39121-0549.
