VIDALIA — A Ferriday man has been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping following a late November incident.

At that time, Bates allegedly forced a former girlfriend into vehicle in Ferriday, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Kathleen Stevens said.

From there, Bates reportedly drove to Louisiana 568 and onto Louisiana 900, Stevens said.

During the alleged incident, the suspect reportedly punched the victim in the face numerous times.

The victim sustained lacerations and bruising, and Stevens said the victim reportedly lost a tooth due to the beating.

The incident ended when Bates allegedly forced the victim from the moving vehicle into a ditch, which Stevens said resulted in the attempted murder charge.

Bates is currently being detained on a $250,000 bond.
