NATCHEZ — Services for Allen Jones, 79, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at noon today at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Logan officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Jones was born May 24, 1930, in Adams County, the son of Weldon Jones and Annie King Jones. He attended Adams County public schools and was retired from Rick’s Lumber Company. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Helping Hand Club and the 12 Gauge Hunting Club. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lizzie Galmore; and four brothers, Tom Jones, Weldon Jones, Nelson Jones and Joe Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Jones; seven children, Gladys Rounds and husband, Lee, Theresa Jones, Gloria McDonald, Lora Williams and husband, Jessie, and Walter Green, all of Natchez, Allen Jones Jr. and wife, Karin, of Numberg, Germany and Donald Jones and wife, Bernice, of New Orleans; one goddaughter, Annie Galmore; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
