NATCHEZ — The snow came, it fell and it melted.

Snow flurries started falling over the Miss-Lou at approximately 6 p.m. Friday, and continued to do so well into the night. By Saturday afternoon, a few pockets of snow lingered in shadowed areas in the Miss-Lou, but most of the snow had melted.

After observing the weather, Adams County Civil Defense Director Stan Owens said he estimated approximately 1 inch of snow fell on the area, and said the temperature fell to approximately 29-degrees Fahrenheit.

But other than the cold, Owens said Adams County weathered the snow without issue — one street bridge had to have sand placed on it to deal with icing, and no one lost power.

Temperatures fell into the upper 20s Saturday night, but according to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to rise into the mid-50s today.

Rains are expected today.
