VIDALIA — Services for Ruby Perry Thompson, 84, of Vidalia, who died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Ron Ledford officiating.

Burial will follow in Elmo Cemetery in Jefferson County under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thompson was born Sept. 16, 1925 in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Shad Perry Sr. and Emma Ashley Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.E. “Buddy” Thompson; one son, Jerry L. Thompson Sr.; four brothers, Shad Perry Jr., Pharoh Perry, Elvin Perry Sr. and Davis Perry; four sisters, Jeanette Murray, Mary Anders, Celia Huff and Donis Havard.

Survivors include two sons, Everette Thompson Jr. and wife, Becky, of Vidalia and Horace Thompson and wife, Wanda, of Natchez; one daughter, Evelyn Beattie and husband, Mike, of Crosby; daughter-in-law Barbara Thompson Osborne; six grandchildren, Everette Elmo III, Curtis Thompson, Jerry “Sonny” Thompson, Jill Smith, Tammy King and Tracy Purser; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bessie Coker and Pearlie Perry.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Case, Cloy Case, Elton Perry, Jim Perry, Stanley Perry and Casey Lofton.
