Estes’ dedication to book is great

I have just finished Don Estes’ “Legends of the Natchez City Cemetery” and I take my hat off to him for such a masterpiece. Knowing Don as I think I do, I find him to be a man of interest, compassion, intellect and a deep love of our fair city.
Listening to Don tell of the cemetery’s history, I often asked him if he had the stories written down, and he often replied that most of them were in his head.
I am so glad that they are now in book form and should be treasured by all as an excellent, well though out, and comprehensive history of our beautiful, world-renowned cemetery.
I have many relatives buried in the city cemetery and never had much interest in its history until I met Don.
It is because of him that I have learned so much about the celebrities, war heroes and ordinary people.
In the eight years Don was “keeper” of the cemetery, it became a work of beauty and so continues today. Natchez should be proud of Don Estes for his effort in putting this wonderful book together.
I urge everyone, including students, to purchase this exceptional book that I know was a labor of love for all people to treasure.
