Oakland Water Works customers placed under boil order

NATCHEZ — Customers on the Oakland Water Works water system were placed on a boil-water order Friday.
According to a news release from the Mississippi State Department of Health, the order was placed after water system officials notified the health department about a drop in water pressure caused by one or more breaks in the water line.
Contaminants can siphon back into the water when a system loses pressure, and the release said officials consider any system that has lost pressure to be contaminated.
The water system officials will be notified when the water tests safe to drink.
Approximately 300 customers will be affected.
