RIDGECREST — Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Joseph Tisdale, 60, of Ridgecrest, who died, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La., will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Tisdale was born March 1, 1949, in Bastrop, La., the son of William Joseph Tisdale and Bobbie Lee Patrick Tisdale.

He was a resident of Ridgecrest where he served as an alderman for the City of Ridgecrest. He was a warehouse foreman for International Paper before retiring after 33 years of service. He served for 23 years in the fire service where he reached the rank of captain of the Ridgecrest Fire Department.

He was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam era veteran.

He will be remembered for playing bass guitar with the band Jute Kalediscope. He was a member of the Southern Cruisers Motorcycle Riding Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Edward Tisdale.

Survivors include his special dachshund Scrappy and numerous friends and family members.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ridgecrest Fire Department, Ferriday Fire Department and the Concordia Fire District.
