Twin Oaks hosts Teddy Bear Tea

NATCHEZ — This Christmas season has had events for everyone including teddy bears at Sunday’s Teddy Bear tea hosted by Regina Charboneau at Twin Oaks.

The teddy bear tea gave girls of all ages the chance to enjoy teatime goodies and the company of friends during the holiday season.

For the Uzzetta family of Natchez the tea was also a chance to celebrate Leona Uzzetta’s 93rd birthday.

“We normally go to Windsor Court in New Orleans for tea, but when we saw this one here we decided to not make the three-hour trip,” Uzzetta’s granddaughter Nona Colombo said. “This has been a fun time for us.”

Leona Uzzetta was joined at the tea by her daughters Judy Uzzetta and Leona Adams and Nona Colombo.

“This is as good, if not better, than the tea at Windsor,” Judy Uzzetta said. “We’ve had a great time. The atmosphere is a little more relaxed and that has been fun for us.”

Leona Uzzetta said spending her birthday with her family is the only way she wanted to celebrate her big day.

“Oh, I’ve had a good time,” she said. “This has been very nice.”

Leona Adams said having the tea in a antebellum home was a nice change from the restaurant environment of Windsor Court.

“It is a different feel to be in a beautiful home,” she said.

“You almost feel like you’re going back in history.”

A relaxed environment was what Charboneau was going for when she opened her doors for the event.

“Tea is kind of my specialty,” she said. “I like to do a more Southern style tea because it is fun for everyone to relax.”

This was the first year for Charboneau to host the teddy bear tea, and she plans to make the event an annual happening.

“The idea for this year was to get things started,” she said. “Next year things will be even bigger and better.”

Twin Oaks will host another tea Jan. 2. Tickets are available through Natchez Pilgrimage Tours.
