FERRIDAY — Services for Bessie Martin Lincecum, 85, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009 at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Larry Wagoner officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mrs. Lincecum was born Dec. 15, 1924 in Ferriday, the daughter of Alice Dubell Martin and Edward Rufus Martin. She was a resident of Ferriday, a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ferriday. Bessie was the rock of her family. She loved her family as strongly as any person could. Her greatest joy was in cooking for a house full of people. No one could do “country cooking” like Bessie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lincecum; one son, Donald Ray Lincecum; her parents; six sisters, Cressie Lee Berry, Leta Green, Irene Sanders, Ruby Graves, Etta Mae Swilley and Geneva Tarver; six brothers, Ben Martin, Luke Martin, Tom Martin, Jimmy Ukele, Willie Green and Clifford Martin.
Survivors include one son, Charles “Bebo” Lincecum and wife, Jana, of Ferriday; one grandson, Aaron Lincecum of Ferriday; two brothers, E.F. “Nub” Martin of Ferriday and Ralph Martin of Ferriday; one sister, Merlee Dale of Denham Springs; one daughter-in-law, Rachel Lincecum of Biloxi; two granddaughters, Any Comstock and husband Brian and Jennifer Lechner and husband Jonathan, and three great-grandsons, Nathan and Logan Lechner and Gavin Comstock.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Tarver, Wayne Tarver, Ronnie Martin, Ralph Martin Jr., Dale Martin, Wayne Dale and Martin Swilley.
