Mantrial Jones

FERRIDAY — Services for Mantrial S. Jones, 83, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria, La., will be at noon today at New Morning Star Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at Richland Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Church Hill under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Jones was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Church Hill, the son of Charlie Johnson Sr. and Lillian Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Amanda Johnson Griffin Odoms; and one brother, Ben Johnson.

Survivors include four daughters, Lucille Banks Lee of Fayette, Wanda Smith of Ferriday, Lillian Warfield of Vicksburg and Beverly Wells Webb of Ozar, Ala.; one son, Anwon Ceasor; three brothers, Charlie Johnson Jr. and wife, Denise, of Washington, D.C., John Howard Johnson and Henry Lee Johnson and wife, Betty, all of Gulfport; two granddaughters, Serelda Herbin of Killeen, Texas and Juawanda Butler of Ruston, La.; two godsons, Larry Nixon and Jimmy Skipper, both of Ferriday; a longtime devoted friend, Laura Bowman of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
