VIDALIA — Two Concordia Parish prisoners were captured in Lafayette Parish Tuesday after less than 24 hours on the run.
According to a news release from the CPSO, Jarvis Robertson, 25, and Brandon Eugene, 24, both of Jeanerette, La., apparently left the work release facility on U.S. 84 near Vidalia Monday evening.
They were arrested without incident by Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies at a traffic signal in Lafayette at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Both men were officially designated as trusties, and while they were housed at the work-release facility, were not part of the work-release program, the statement said.
The two men were assigned to the road crew that worked at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center, and after working the full day as part of the crew had reported back to the work release facility Monday evening, the statement said.
They were discovered missing at the time of the evening headcount.
Robertson was serving a sentence for a distribution of cocaine and marijuana conviction, and was set to be released July 21, 2012.
Eugene was serving a sentence for a simple burglary and illegal possession of stolen things conviction, and was set for release on Jan. 16, 2013.
When they are transported to Concordia Parish, the men will face additional charges of escape.
