Inclement weather cancels local games

NATCHEZ — The blast of very cold air that has engulfed the Miss-Lou has forced many basketball and soccer games that were scheduled for Friday and Saturday to be either postponed or canceled.

As far as prep basketball is concerned, there have been several postponements. Adams County Christian School was scheduled to host Amite School Center on Friday, but that has been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21. ACCS was supposed to play at Centreville Academy today, but that has been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 16.

Ferriday’s games at Block have been postponed. No make-up date has been announced. The Franklin County-Hazlehurst games at Hazlehurst in Region 7-3A have been rescheduled for Jan. 21. Huntington’s District 6-A games at Tensas Academy have also been rescheduled for a date to be determined.

Monterey’s non-district home games against Central of Larto (La.) have been canceled altogether.

Wilkinson County Christian Academy was set to host Central Private School in District 5-AA action on Friday. However, those games have been postponed until next Monday. Its district games today at Silliman Institute beginning at 2 p.m. have been moved to next Thursday starting at 4 p.m.

Cathedral, Natchez High and Franklin County all had soccer games either postponed or canceled to the cold weather.

Cathedral’s Division 7-1A/2A/3A games at home against Wesson that was scheduled for Friday have been rescheduled for Jan. 21. Its games against McComb that were supposed to take place today have been canceled.

Natchez High was set to travel to Summit to take on North Pike today, but those games have been canceled.

Franklin County’s girls team was to host Tylertown in a division game at 5 p.m. while the boys team was to host Piney Woods in a non-division game at 7:30 p.m. Both of those games have been pushed back to next Monday.

Franklin County was supposed to take on Sacred Heart and Greene County at the Sacred Heart Tournament in Hattiesburg, but the tournament has been canceled.
